Starkville High School Senior Class Day
May 5, 2010
The Senior Class Day awards ceremony at Starkville High School Wednesday was, as one presenter said, “a great day to be a Yellow Jacket!” The Class of 2010 collectively garnered more than $4.6 million in scholarships and awards! The program started early, and the variety and number of awards presented was so impressive. SHS students include National Merit finalists, semi-finalists, one student who scored a 36 perfect on her ACT, those who were recognized for arts abilities and citizenship and community service and a variety of other achievements. Wednesday was a great day for these seniors and for our entire community as we recognize the caliber of talent and character coming out of our local schools. Also impressive were the variety of organizations, churches and community leaders who are involved in making scholarship awards available to graduating seniors. Many churches and individuals award scholarships. The total amount is staggering! It was my pleasure to attend and announce 55 students who will graduate with the distinction of Mississippi Scholar. The Greater Starkville Development Partnership congratulates our Mississippi Scholars and the entire Class of 2010! We’re proud of you!!!
