Starkville Speaks About Why We Need Fiber First

On September 24, C Spire announced plans to launch a new program bringing state-of-the-art high speed fiber optic technology to Mississippi for home internet service. At a press conference, it issued a challenge for communities across the state to show which was most worthy to be the first in Mississippi to receive this technology.

Starkville took up that challenge the very same day with a letter of intent to provide whatever documents necessary to meet the challenge as well as to mobilize our community to speak out. Last Saturday during Mississippi State University's home ballgame, Starkville displayed a video spot to over 58,000 fans in attendance urging a call to action: let C Spire know we want #FiberForSTK first!

As a companion to the 30-second ad spot, Jennifer Gregory, CEO of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, Parker Wiseman, Starkville Mayor, and Paul Luckett, owner of No Sky Solutions spoke on camera in this short piece outlining why we feel the Fiber for the Home program is a win-win for Starkville and C Spire. Take a look...

C Spire has outlined a three-step process for selection of the community finalists, and community involvement and local infrastructure readiness are key components in being considered for the technology. Fiber for the Home will offer internet access to residential subscribers at speeds of up to 100x those of normal DSL -- an amazing advancement for our community's quality of life. It will also represent a huge benefit to our economic development efforts.

You can help Starkville achieve another FIRST in Mississippi!
We call on residents, students, business representatives and stakeholders to visit the Fiber to the Home selection website and complete the "individual" form to show your support of Starkville for this first!
